Chinuri is an indigenous white grape variety from the Kartli region of central Georgia (also found in Kakheti and parts of Imereti). Its name is sometimes tied to the old Georgian “chini” (a reddish-green hue) or the word “chinebuli” (“excellent”). It is prized for its high natural acidity and versatility in producing both still and sparkling wines.
