Learn More:

Georgia: Imereti
Perfect with seafood, poultry. Its also pair beautifully with roasted meats and aged cheeses.
Krakhuna is an indigenous white grape variety from the Imereti region of western Georgia, whose name translates to “crispy” in the local dialect. Known for its thin-skinned, juicy berries and naturally high sugar levels balanced by refreshing acidity, Krakhuna produces wines that are both expressive and versatile.
  • Appearance: Depending on the winemaking method, Krakhuna wines range from pale straw in European-style fermentations to deep amber when crafted in traditional Georgian qvevri clay vessels.
  • Aromas & Flavors: Expect vibrant notes of ripe banana, apricot, and honey, often layered with stone fruit, tropical hints, and a subtle herbal edge. Qvevri-aged versions bring added texture, chalky tannins, and earthy complexity.
  • Style & Structure: Fresh and crisp in stainless steel or barrel-aged styles, while qvevri wines are fuller-bodied with a tannic backbone and excellent aging potential.
  • Food Pairing: Perfect with seafood, poultry, or traditional Georgian dishes like stuffed eggplant (badridzhani). Its richer amber styles also pair beautifully with roasted meats and aged cheeses.
  • Character: Krakhuna wines embody the balance of elegance and strength—crisp yet structured, fruity yet complex, making them a true reflection of Georgia’s ancient winemaking heritage.
